European Adventure, Part 9: Hoge Veluwe and Rosie's Birthday

On the way to De Hoge Veluwe national park.  So pretty!

Play time/lunch time in the park before we picked out our bikes and headed to the Kröller-Müller Museum, tucked away inside the national park.

So much fun!

Robert watches Isabel do flips.

Adventurous Rosie.

William claimed he was going to do this next (see him there, watching).  He did not.  I don't know if that's just because I showed up or if he wouldn't have gone through with it anyway (I suspect the latter).

Getting Robert set up on the back of my bike (after we took our bikes for test runs solo to make sure we remembered how to ride them at all!).

A rare sight.

Ha.  (Also, pretty great angle.)

Bicycling Burkes.

Playing with rocks while the grownups got the bikes put away at the museum dropoff location.

Ha.  Sculpture along the path up to the museum.

A real art enthusiast in the making.

Same.

Not even the windmill painting struck his fancy.  He just wanted to watch the video of the construction of the sculpture garden that he'd seen running out front on our way in.  Sigh.
At least he wasn't screaming here.  He must really like Van Gogh?  Haha.

Taking in the culture.

Ahhhh, there we go.

Leaving the museum and heading back to our car near the entrance to the park.
Pretty enthused to be on the back of Daddy's bike!

We stopped off at the underground science museum on our way out of the park.
Archaeological dig!

Monkeying around.

Back to Wageningen!

Nifty building on campus.

William's favorite game: hiding from Daddy to surprise him around the corner from our room at the Buunderkamp.

Happiness: William sits with the birthday girl and giant plates of pizza!

💞

Going to town on a bowl of pasta.

Or, you know, just dumping it on the floor by the handful.  Whatever.

William escorts Peppy across the street as we head to the ice cream parlor to complete the birthday celebration!

William tries to catch up to Peppy, who is just fine walking herself, thank you.

Ha.  A little slice of home for Donald.

Pretttty excited to eat their ice cream cones!

Rosie distracts the fellow who didn't get a cone but was very curious! (I think she was already done with hers.)

Such good buddies!

Rosie came home from dinner with us due to not having her bike for some reason I can't remember, but it meant that William got to go in this little taxi thing with her on the walk back to the car!

Then an impromptu game of hide and seek went a little too far.  The wanderer is being escorted back after a nice Dutch lady stopped and tried to tell us where the boy we were starting to panic about had gone (Rosie translated for us--amazing!).

Holding Rosie's birthday flowers.

Ohhhh, what fun these two had on the ride back to Oudlaan!

Back in the hotel, pantsless, and playing in our weird little bed nook again (and photographed mid-blink?).
