| William is going to be a big brother! We're headed for plural Burkelets territory. |
When we first told William, we asked him if he thought it was a baby brother or a baby sister. He said no, declared that it was a lion, and then stuck with that as his reliable answer for a while. (He told the ultrasound tech that it was a lion.) He also told me that the baby "grew and grew and GREW!", serving as something of a confirmation that his source of inspiration was Herbert the Lion (a continuing favorite):
| "There was once a little girl named Sally who wanted a baby lion. She already had a doll's house, two dolls, a tea set, and a toy zebra on wheels, but she didn't like any of them. All she wanted was a lion, a real, live lion. So one day, her mother brought her one from downtown. Then Sally was very happy. She named the little cub Herbert, and they played together all day long." |
| William's favorite page: "Herbert grew, and grew, and GREW!" |
Then the other day, his story changed, and the baby was no longer a lion, but a "little fat sausage". He seems to have found a new book to help him to work through these new confusing events:
| To be fair, he changed his tune after seeing the ultrasound, and the ultrasound does kind of look like a "little fat sausage" (word inversion his). |
